Lavrov, Pedersen call for sustainable, fruitful intra-Syrian dialogue without foreign interference

ROME, (ST)- Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and the UN Special Envoy for Syria Geir Pedersen on Friday discussed the situation in Syria and stressed that the intra-Syrian dialogue should continue without foreign interference.

The Russian Foreign Minister said in a statement that Lavorv and Pedersen called for holding a sustainable and fruitful dialogue among the Syrians without foreign interference.

The two senior diplomats exchanged view points on developments relating to the Constitutional Committee on Syria and the results of its two sessions in Geneva, the ministry added.

 They also discussed holding another international meeting within the Astana format on December 10th  and 11th in the Kazakh capital Nur-Sultan, the ministry pointed out.

Earlier, Lavrov said that the forthcoming meeting on Syria in Nur-Sultan  will discuss political settlement in Syria, combating the remaining terrorist groups in the country as well as humanitarian issues including the refugees’ return and providing humanitarian aid to the Syrians.
