Lavrov, Kerry discuss Syria over the phone
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry have discussed over the phone ways of settling the crisis in Syria, including preparations for an international peace conference ,according to Voice of Russia,RIA Novosti.
They also exchanged opinions on the schedule of bilateral political contacts to be held in various formats, says a report posted on the Russian Foreign Ministry website.
Russia Blocks UN’s Qusair Resolution, Calls It ‘Unilateral’
Russia has blocked British-drafted resolution that criticizes the Syrian regime’s offensive in the strategic town of Qusair in Syria, UN diplomatic sources told RIA Novosti on Sunday.
Russia called the draft text “unilateral” and “not reflecting the real situation in Syria, particularly in Qusair,” which is close to the border with Lebanon. A diplomat said Moscow blocked the resolution as the UN had failed to make a statement when the rebels seized the town.
