Lavrov: Illegal Tripartite Strike on Syria Inactivates Implementing UNSC Resolutions

MOSCOW-Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov affirmed that the tripartite aggression on Syria violated international law and obstructed efforts to implement the UN Security Council resolutions on Syria, SANA reported.

In a joint press conference with his Cypriot counterpart Nikos Christodoulides in Moscow, Lavrov said that efforts to implement the UNSC resolutions on Syria have seriously stumbled as a result of the illegal strike carried out by the US, France and UK against Syria in violation of international law.

Lavrov noted the concurrence of Russian and Cypriot positions on resolving the crisis in Syria, stressing the need to implement UNSC resolution no.2254.

He added that the talks also dealt with the Russian efforts, including with Iran and Turkey, within the framework of the Astana process and in the context of the recent Syrian National Dialogue Congress in Sochi in order to create the best conditions for the implementation of this resolution (UNSC resolution No.2254).
