Lavrov: Foreign interference in internal affairs of sovereign states is major source of international tension
Moscow – Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said foreign interference in the internal affairs of sovereign states in the Middle East and North Africa has been a major source of international tension and serious threats such as terrorism, illegal immigration, drug trafficking and organized crime, SANA reported.
Lavrov‘s remarks came during an interview with the Greek newspaper Efimerida ton Syntakton.
Lavrov said that this situation is a direct result of geopolitical engineering and interference in the internal affairs of sovereign states in the Middle East and North Africa.
Lavrov said that “Massive tasks to restore Syria’s infrastructure are now on the agenda, which requires joint efforts of the global community and international humanitarian structures – without preliminary conditions and double standards.”
Lavrov pointed out to the cooperation between Russia and Syria in the field of combating terrorism and eliminating the terrorist organizations in Syria, in addition to creating the appropriate conditions for the return of the displaced Syrians to their homeland.
