Lavrov calls on West not to exaggerate the issue of nuclear threat

Moscow, (ST) – Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov called on the West not to exaggerate on purpose  the issue of the nuclear threat.

“There is no need to artificially exaggerate the issue of nuclear threats,” Lavrov told Russia 1 TV channel on Tuesday. He advised analysts and political scientists to take responsibility as much as possible in their public statements, and not to play games that inflame the situation.

Lavrov asked those who speculate in the West about the possible use of nuclear weapons by Russia to be responsible for what they say.

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov had confirmed earlier that Moscow does not threaten to use nuclear weapons, stressing that Western capitals are working to escalate the nuclear rhetoric, in an attempt to make it appear that Moscow is preparing to use weapons of mass destruction.
