Lavrov and Pompeo Discuss Syria in Phone Call

MOSCOW- Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and the US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo have had a phone conversation, in which they discussed the resolution of the crisis in Syria based on Security Council Resolution No. 2254, as well as the situation on the Korean Peninsula, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement, according to RT.

Resolution No. 2254, which was issued in December 2015, stipulated that the Syrians are the party which must decide the future of their country themselves without any foreign interference and that the terrorist organizations are out of any political process.

 The two diplomats also discussed the bilateral contacts between Moscow and Washington for the near future, among other issues, the statement adds.
