Lavrentiev: We refuse to extend the so-called “cross-border aid delivery mechanism”

Alexander Lavrentiev, head of the Russian delegation to the 16th  international meeting of Astana format in the Kazakh capital, Nur-Sultan, stressed the need to continue combating terrorism in Syria until its final elimination and to support efforts to reach a political solution to the crisis.

“We reject the extension of the so-called cross-border aid delivery mechanism in Syria,” Lavrentiev said during a press conference, stressing that all humanitarian aid must reach the Syrian state to support the reconstruction process.

In response to a question by SANA reporter about the role of the American and Turkish occupation forces in increasing the suffering of the Syrians by supporting terrorism and stealing their wealth, Lavrentiev said: We refuse to plunder Syria’s wealth because it belongs to the Syrian people.
