Lavrentiev: Meetings of the Committee of discussing the constitution to be resumed

Geneva, (ST):  -The Russian President’s Special Envoy to Syria Alexander Lavrentiev has announced that the meetings of the Committee of Discussing the Constitution are expected to  continue in Geneva tomorrow or after tomorrow.

Sputnik news agency quoted Lavrentiev as saying  that the infection of some members  of the participant delegations with the Coronavirus led to some adjustments in the work of the committee.

He added  that till today, it was not clear whether the consultations would continue or not , noting that  UN envoy for Syria ,Geir Pedersen, said  that the results of the checks made by the Swiss doctors indicated that there is no danger to the health of the participants in the consultations and they can resume their work.

He added that agreement has been made to resume the consultations tomorrow or the day after tomorrow.

Earlier, the UN said that it had suspended the meetings of the committee after the discovery of coronavirus infections  among the participating delegations.
