Lavrentiev: Improving the humanitarian situation in Syria should be a priority for the international community
On July 8th, the Special Envoy of the Russian President to Syria, Alexander Lavrentiev, stressed the need for improving the humanitarian situation in Syria.He said that it should be a priority of the international community.
In a statement to reporters on the sidelines of the sixteenth meeting of the Astana Talks on Syria in the Kazakh capital, Nur-Sultan, Lavrentiev indicated that most of this aid should be poured into implementing various projects of vital importance, such as building schools, hospitals, and others.
On the other hand, Lavrentiev indicated that the Special Envoy of the Secretary-General of the United Nations to Syria, Geir Pedersen, “promised to work on setting a possible date for the meeting of the committee to discuss the Syrian constitution.”
On July 7th, Lavrentiev said that the next meeting of the committee to discuss the constitution may be held in the summer of this year.
