Lattakia witnesses remarkable tourist season, notable turnout of tourists from neighboring Arab countries

Lattakia – (ST)- The tourist season in Lattakia is witnessing a remarkable turnout of tourists, especially from Arab countries such as “Lebanon, Jordan, Iraq”, the Director of Lattakia Tourism Fadi Nizam affirmed in an interview with “Tishreen” Newspaper, pointing out that the current tourist season produced a beautiful image and gave an impetus that positively reflected on all sectors in the governorate.
He added: “Despite the circumstances and difficulties that the country is suffering from, we have been able, within our capabilities, to overcome these difficulties by reviving the tourist season and returning the tourist movement through cooperation and coordination with all sectors in the governorate”.
According to Nizam, this season witnessed a large turnout, as the occupancy rate in some tourism facilities reached 100%, which encouraged the opening of new facilities and the acceleration of the completion of stalled projects. He pointed to the laying of the foundation stone for the Ugarit Resort and the inauguration of the “La Plage” Resort in Wadi Qandil, in addition to the activation of tourist facilities in the city of Lattakia by establishing a market for handicrafts.
Nizam stressed that the ministry is focusing on encouraging popular tourism and making it available to those wishing to relax by allocating free places, such as the “La Plage” resort, the northern beach of Latakia, where there are places designated for free swimming.
