The Lattakia branch of Plastic Artists’ Union has recently organized “ Lattakia Summer 2020” exhibition at Al-Bassel Art Gallery , singling out an area of color, beauty and creativity.
The exhibition was distinguished by the diversity of artworks in terms of the multiplicity of methods and techniques used whether in photography or sculpture.
“ Art carries unlimited messages as it is the mirror of civilization, history , morals and creativity and it is one of the finest types of expression” Artist Fareed Reslan , Head of the Lattakia branch of Plastic Artists’ Union said in a statement to the Syriatimes e-newspaper.
He stressed that the participation of 30 artists , who are members at the Lattakia branch of the plastic artists’ union as well as other artists supports the artistic movement with a generation of youths who are capable of creativity and innovation.
Artist Reslan underlined the importance of holding art exhibitions constantly with adhering currently to the measures of combating coronavirus.
He noted that the exhibition showcased richness and diversity through more than forty artworks between paintings of oil, acrylic and water to sculpting on wood, stone and marble in addition to engraving and graphics with diversity of visions to bring together the artistic work, the audience and the development of artists’ experiences.
The artist and poet Rana Mahmoud participated in two works, one on oak wood that monitors a human condition and the other a sculptural work on artificial stone symbolizing the Syrian woman.
On his part, the plastic artist Nidal Shaaban believed that the exhibition presented great diversity in terms of style , techniques and mixing between two generations, which provided an opportunity for dialogue and exchange of experiences.
The Sculptor Mustafa Shakhees, who participated in a sculptural work on mulberry wood symbolizing the rise of “Syria the phoenix” that comes out from the ashes to the sky.
The sculptor pointed out that plastic artists did not stop creativity despite the absence of exhibitions due to the Corona pandemic.
“Art is a message of life and provides spaces of beauty that keep hope and joy despite all crises” the sculptor concluded.
