Lattakia Governor Meets Russian Delegation

Lattakia, (ST) – Governor of Lattakia Ibrahim Kheder Salem recently met with the head of the commercial attaché at the Russian embassy in Damascus, Igor Matviev, and Director General of the Russian village company for the Russian- Syrian imports and exports, Aslan Banyish, and their accompanying delegation. The two sides discussed the mechanism of work that the future business operations will follow to enhance trade exchange between the two countries.

Mr. al -Salem stressed that the Syrian side is ready to provide all necessary facilities for the success of any economic process serving the two parties and all districts in Lattakia are ready to follow all the necessary procedures for the company.

 

For his part, Mr. Banyish talked about the facilities provided by the Syrian side through diplomatic missions and government institutions to accomplish most transactions regarding the project company, pointing to the need to improve the level of Syrian goods to be able to compete in the Russian market.

Mr. Banyish pointed to the desire of the Russian and Syrian sides to start joint economic work, which will begin in Lattakia effectively through the company. This step was preceded by exporting two shipments of goods to Russia estimated at more than 400 tons.

He pointed to his quest to create additional Russian companies in Lattakia to contribute to attracting a labor force, stressing the need to trust in the Syrian product in the Russian market especially that the Russian businessmen are enthusiastic to cooperate with the Syrian side.

Mr. Matviev stressed on the necessity of activating the Syrian-Russian joint committees in the various scientific, commercial and technical fields, and textile industries that meet the needs of the Russian market.
