Larijani: Syrian government and people’s sovereignty over their land, oil and resources

Tehran,ST-The head of the Islamic Shura Council in Iran, Ali Larijani, stressed that the government and the Syrian people have  sovereignty over their land and their resources. The US has no right to occupy Syrian lands and seize oil fields.

“It seems that US President Donald Trump does not understand that the land of Syria and its oil belongs to the government and the Syrian people,” Larijani said in a speech at the council’s open session, as quoted by the official IRNA news agency.

Referring to Trump’s remarks on the situation in the region, Larijani stressed that “Trump continues his rude speech and says we also must get oil in Iraq, but he did not achieve this matter,” pointing out that America is practicing this policy towards the Middle East and the oil states to achieve its schemes.

Larijani pointed out that the US claims to care for the Iranian people are incorrect because “Iran’s oil is important to it (US) … therefore, the US imposed economic sanctions on this people for its inability to confront it militarily and to be able to dominate oil and gas resources, “asserting that Trump’s statements reveal the true face of America and its exploitative nature and anti-humanity.
