TEHRAN, (ST)- Ali Larijani, Speaker of the Iranian Shoura Council, has reiterated that the best solution to the crisis in Syria can be attained by respecting the will of the Syrian people to decide their future themselves, pointing out that it is not possible for some countries which don’t enjoy democracy to impose solutions on the Syrian people.
Interviewed by the Beirut-based “al-Mayadeen” newspaper, Larijani criticized Saudi Arabia’s opposition to Iran’s participation in Geneva III conference, clarifying that all the regional and international moves being made don’t lead to an acceptable solution in Syria and that the Syrian people are the party which should determine their destiny.
He said that some countries are mistaken when they search for solutions to the crisis in Syria people in closed operation rooms and try to make decisions on behalf of the Syrian people.
On the US-led war on the terrorist organization calling itself the “Islamic State in Iraq and Levant” (ISIL) or [Daesh in Arabic], Larijani said the regional countries’ stances on this issue are not unified and sooner or later terrorism will hit them unless they are unified in the fight against this plague.
He added that there is no strong will to act by the anti-terror coalition’s influential states and to launch a real war on the ISIL terrorist organization; these states may have some tactical goals aiming to involve the region in conflicts.
