Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani blasted certain undemocratic countries which paradoxically call for democratic reforms in Syria, and said those states will later understand the real trap they have fallen into by interfering in Syria, according to FNA.
“The interesting point is that certain countries that know nothing of democracy are claiming to be advocating democracy in Syria,” Larijani said on Friday.
The Iranian official said Western and regional countries have now come to realize that they cannot solve the crisis in Syria through military intervention and by sending arms to Syrian rebels.
Larijani said countries involved in the crisis in Syria will find out in the future what trap they have fallen into.
Syria has been experiencing unrest since March 2011 with organized attacks by well-armed gangs against Syrian police forces and border guards being reported across the country.
The US and its western and regional allies have long sought to topple the Syrian government. Media reports said that the Syrian terrorist groups have received significantly more and better weapons in recent weeks, a crime paid for by the Persian Gulf Arab states and coordinated by the United States.
