TEHRAN, (ST) – The largest glass factory for the production of glass in the Middle East was inaugurated in the city of Yazd in central Iran.
The thickness of the glass produced in the factories in Yazd is up to 19 millimeters in addition to various types of glass which includes industrial glass used in cars, mirrors, break-resistant as a part of it is consumed in the local market and the rest is exported to overseas.
These plants are ranked third in the world after America and China and provide more than a thousand jobs.
The Iranian glass is exported to 14 countries in the world, including Turkey, India, Brazil and the countries of Central Asia and the Middle East.
On the other hand, a factory for steel production was in inaugurated in the governorate of Yazd in central Iran with a production capacity of up to 800 thousand tons of steel, and 800 thousand tons of sponge iron annually.
