DAMASCUS,(ST)_ Parliament speaker Mohammed Jihad al-Lahham underlined the importance of Syrian-Iranian strategic relations in maintaining the region’s security and stability and in defense of the interests of its peoples, noting Iran’s support for Syria against the economic and terrorist war waged led Western and Arab countries.
During his meeting on Thursday with Chairman of the Committee for the Development of Iranian-Syrian economic relations Rostam Qasemi, the parliament speaker welcomed Iran’s key role in the reconstruction and investment processes in Syria especially in the field of oil and gas.
He called for continued work in the credit line between the two countries in order to support Syria’s economy and securing commodities for its citizens constantly, stressing the seriousness of the Syrian government in introducing the participatory law with the private sector, which will have a major role in opening the door for huge investments, especially with Iran.
For his part, Qasemi pointed Iran extensive experience in the field of reconstruction and that these experiences will be at the disposal of the Syrian government, adding that when a higher committee for reconstruction will be formed, the two sides will discuss the fund reconstruction project, with the aim to stimulate the Syrian economy.
Qasemi noted Syria’s steadfastness in the face of countries of global arrogance, despite circumstances, as a result of solidarity between the Syrian army, people and leadership, stressing that this steadfastness has been unrecorded throughout history.
The meeting was attended by Iran’s ambassador in Damascus Mohammad Reza Sheibani and Syria’s Ambassador to Iran, Adnan Mahmoud.
