Lahham to European Media Delegations : All Syrians Reject Terrorism, Determined to Achieve Victory

DAMASCUS,(ST)_ Speaker of the Syrian Parliament Jihad Lahham  stressed  that all  Syrian people reject terrorism , violence and extremism, and are determined  more than ever to achieve victory and restore security and stability to the country.

During  a meeting yesterday with a European media delegation , Lahham noted  the importance of the media role in conveying  the reality of what is happening in Syria and acquainting the  world public opinion  with crimes  committed by armed terrorist groups against the Syrian people and state  vital sectors and  public and private property to weaken the Syrian state so as to implement the agendas of States conspiring  against  Syria , particularly the US,  its  Westerner allies and their hirelings  in the region.

On the American and Western allegations on  Syria using chemical weapons in  rural Damascus Lahham said  that for more than two and a half years the United States and its Western allies are  seeking military intervention in Syria by using  lies and  flimsy excuses to justify this intervention , most recently the  allegations about the  Syrian army use of weapons Chemical .

He asserted  that Syria supports any political effort ensures eliminating  the crisis as soon as possible and alleviates  the suffering of the citizens , and maintains  the sovereignty, unity and independence of the Syrian territory , explaining that Syria has declared  readiness to go to the Geneva Conference 2 in accordance with the said  principles , without preconditions, but some of the so-called   Syrian opposition refuse attending  the conference and continuously putting obstacles  as they do not dare to take any decision without reference to their masters and employers .

He indicated that  many neighboring countries where  some Syrians resorted  to, of  fear of armed terrorist groups , are exercising political  and financial blackmail ,  trying to inflate their numbers for own purposes ,  stressing that the Syrian government is ready to ensure the needs and requirements of all those displaced inside  the Syrian territory and to provide necessary assistance for them .

Replying  to a question about the nature of the recent reforms undertaken by the leadership in Syria , the parliament speaker  said  that the decision to make these political ,social  and economic development reforms in Syria did not come under external   pressure and threats , but in response to the ambitions and aspirations of the Syrian people, noting that the package of recent reforms targeted various areas of political life and party elections and laid  an advanced  platform for multilateral – state that avails the participation of all segments of the Syrian people of different intellectual, political and social orientations in the political life.

The  European media delegation included  the journalist in  the Italian  Espresso  magazine “, Giovanwirela ” , journalist in the Italian Opinion  TV ” Bruno Akonta ” , journalist in the Spanish El Pais,  newspaper “David Ibalistir ” and journalist in  the Spanish Alberidiko de paper  “Erin Savio ” and journalist in the  German newspaper De Tagustzightong Martin Lejeune .”

Iran  principled stances to resolve the crisis, highly appreciated

Lahham, on the other hand , stressed  that Syria is working hard to resolve the crisis politically and diplomatically, criticizing the dual positions taken by some countries in the region towards Syria.

This came in  a telephone call with the head of the Iranian Shura Council , Ali Larijani, during which latest political developments in the region and the actions taken by the Syrian government to ensure the settlement of the crisis in the country,were discussed .

Lahham  noted Iran  efforts on the regional and international levels to resolve the crisis in Syria , stressing the need not to ignore the  brutal crimes committed by  the  armed terrorist groups against the Syrian people .

For his part  , Larijani pointed  Iran efforts to resolve the crisis in Syria politically  and to his talks with the heads of parliaments in Iraq and Turkey during their recent visits to Tehran , stressing that ” Syria and through its adherence to the option of resistance will emerge from the crisis stronger and more invincible  .”

Larijani praised the steadfastness of the  Syrian Government and people and its insistence on thwarting all plots and to address the inhuman  crimes  of  the  armed terrorist groups in Syria.
