DAMASCUS,(ST) _ Speaker of the Syrian parliament Mohammed Jihad al-Lahham stressed that Syria ‘s participation in Geneva 2 Conference does not mean in any way to compromise the”Syrian basic principles nor the interests of its people, but to defend these principles and interests and be open to the dialogue based the ability of the great Syrian people and valiant army to conquer terrorism and defeat the enemies.”
He explained at the first meeting of the Parliament ‘s third ordinary session that the illusions of those who are trying to put pressure on Syria by aggressive intimidation and increased arming supplies for terrorists to achieve objectives are far from the will of the Syrians,”have failed and became part of the past,”stressing that Syria ‘ s history testifies that”the will of the Syrians had made history and that the Syrians will write Syria ‘s future by their own hands away from any external interference.”
He hoped that the government team will continue performing set duties in providing services to citizens and rehabilitation of areas that are cleared from terrorists.
He stressed the need to monitor the situation of the families of the martyrs and the wounded who sacrificed themselves for the homeland, calling on the government to secure their needs as quickly as possible as a national and moral duty and the responsibility of everyone.”
