GENEVA,(ST)_Mohammad Jehad al-Lahham has called on European countries to adopt balanced policies towards situation in the Middle East and counter-terrorism because Europe will be affected by trans-boundary terrorism.
The remark of the Speaker of the Peoples’ Assembly [Parliament] came during his meeting with Head of the Italian Senate’s Foreign Affairs Commission, Pier Ferdinando Casini, on the sidelines of the 131st session of the International Parliament Union’s General Assembly.
He said that Parliaments must ask executive authorities to tighten controls on trans-boundary movement of terrorists.
The meeting, according to the official news agency (SANA), zeroed in on importance of parliamentary dialogue to reach a regional legislative environments for decreasing violence and chaos and draining terrorism resources.
Al-Lahham also met Chairperson of Republic Council -the Upper Chamber at Belarussian Parliament Vladimir Senko.
The two sides discussed situation in the Middle East region and international terrorism that is hitting Syria and Iraq, stressing that counter-terrorism should be under international law and the UN resolution which provides for participation of all countries in fighting terrorism and respecting countries’ sovereignty.
