Laham Called on the World to protect Syria as the cradle of religions, civilizations

DAMASCUS,(ST)_ Patriarch Gregory III Laham, of Antioch and All the East for Melkite Catholics Church said that the actual target in Syria is the true believer being a Christian or a Muslim, pointing out that these “insurgents” are far from the Syrian thought and behavior and are coming from outside the country.

Patriarch Laham added that “The Syrian people are strong believer and the decision of war and peace in the world lies in Syria, the heart of the world , and that Syria will emerge from the crisis strong and recovered, thanks to the faith of its people and their solidarity and that Syria will remain a model for the Arab world of coexistence, amity and love.”

“Our call to the world is not for the protection of Syria in order to protect Syria for the sake of the Syrians, but to protect Syria as the cradle of religions and civilizations,” the Patriarch said, stressing that everyone in and outside Syria, is responsible for it as a civilization and we have to scarify ourselves for it, and for the values disseminated from it to the world.
