MOSCOW-Russia and the United States have no agreement on cooperation in the fight against the so-called “Islamic State” in Syria, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov has told the media, according to Itar tass.
“As before, we can state with regret that there is no cooperation in fighting terrorists in Syria,” Peskov has said. “I would like to recall that twice a day we exchange information with the US partners through the corresponding channels.”
Asked if there had been some secret agreement with the United States, Peskov answered in the negative.
He also said that at the request of the Syrian leadership, the Russian military forces are fighting ISIS only within Syria and not in Iraq.
Yesterday, Russian Foreign Minister said that the deadline given by Russia to armed groups in Syria as to dissociate themselves from “Jabhat al-Nusra” terrorist organization ends this week.
Interview by the Russian “Komsomolskaya Pravda” website, Lavrov stressed that the Russian airstrikes will target the armed groups that don’t dissociate themselves from al-Nusra before the set deadline.
