Kremlin announces the failure of the Normandy negotiations for the Ukrainian settlement

Moscow (ST): The deputy head of the Kremlin administration, Dmitry Kozak, announced that the advisers to the leaders of the countries of the “Normandy” group, which includes Russia, Germany, France and Ukraine, failed to bring their views towards the Ukrainian settlement.

TASS news agency quoted Kozak as saying today: “Unfortunately, nine hours of negotiations ended without any clear and tangible results. We tried to agree on the final statement of our negotiations, starting with the previous meeting in Paris on the 26th of last month,” adding, “We must overcome all differences on the interpretation of the Minsk Accords because the Normandy formula is a mechanism governing the Minsk negotiations in the Contact Group.

Kozak pointed out that the Ukrainian side rejected the “Normandy” formula quoted from the Minsk agreements when drafting the statement, pointing to the difficulty of determining the extent of Ukraine’s readiness to resolve the conflict by political means.
