Krak des Chevaliers under Control of Syrian Arab Army, National Flag Raised over Castle

DAMASCUS, (ST)-  The Syrian Arab Army in cooperation with national defense forces regained control over al-Hosn castle (Krak des Chevaliers) in the western countryside of Homs and restored security and stability to surrounding areas, a statement by  the General Command of the Army and Armed Forces said on Thursday.

 The achievement comes following a successful army ambush in which scores of terrorists were killed and wounded. Other terrorists flee the army’s strikes.

The army raised the Syrian flag over the castle which used to be a stronghold for terrorist groups and gangs infiltrating from Lebanon.

According to the statement “the great victory in al-Hosn area enhances the achievements of the Syrian army in Talkalakh town of Homs countryside and tightens the closure of the Syrian-Lebanese bordering area.”

 “The victory also secures the international road which links between the central and coastal regions of Syria and tightens the grip on the rest of terrorists  in Homs,” the statement added.

“The General Command of the Army and Armed Forces affirms that defeating the armed terrorist groups in al-Hosn area is the result of the Syrian Army’s successive victories which led to the collapse of the morale of the terrorists and their leaders, ” the statement said.

The General Command pledges more victories to rid the Syrians of the terrorists and restore security and stability to every inch of the Syrian land.
