Kinshchak On Russia’s National Day: Russian-Syrian Relations Based on Mutual Respect, Fraternity, Friendship, Cooperation

DAMASCUS, (ST)- The Russian Embassy in Damascus held a reception on Sunday marking Russia’s National Day. The event was attended by senior Syrian officials.

The Russian Ambassador in Damascus Alexander Kinshchak stressed that Syria will triumph in the war imposed on the country thanks to the resistance of the great and steadfast Syrian people,  the wise leadership of Syria’s leader and the heroism of the valiant Syrian army.

“Syria will emerge from the crisis stronger than before and we are looking forward to the restoration of security and peace to the homeland of peace, civilization, tolerance and peaceful coexistence through national reconciliation which will pave the way for launching reconstruction in the country as soon as possible,” the ambassador said.

He added that Russia, as in the Soviet Union era, will continue its firm support for the Syrian Arab Republic in the confrontation of all forms of foreign intervention and enemies’ conspiracies.

“Today, we are standing side by side in the same trench in our noble battle against extremism, violence and terrorism,”  Kinshchak stressed.

The Russian ambassador went on to say “we are proud of the historical and distinguished relations between Russia and Syria based on fraternity, friendship mutual respect and fruitful cooperation in all domains.

Mikdad: Syrian-Russian strategic ties are that of common destiny

In a statement to reporters, Deputy foreign Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Faisal al-Mikdad asserted that the Syrian-Russian strategic ties are that of common destiny, pointing out that the Russian Federation’s support for Syria in the fight against terrorism doesn’t only mark the development of ties between the two countries, but it marks notable development in international relations as well.

“Every day, the real image of the declared war on Syria becomes clearer; It is a war waged not only by terrorist organizations like Daesh and Jabhat al-Nusra and other affiliated terror groups, but also by countries that have conspired on Syria and supported terrorism , including some Gulf states,” al-Mikdad said, noting the facts that have been uncovered about these countries’ support for terrorists in Syria and the region.

Al-Mikdad went on to say that the Syrian-Russian alliance with resistance forces in the region, mainly Iran and Hizbollah is advancing on ground. He clarified that the victory achieved by the Syrian Arab army, represented by reaching the Syrian-Iraqi borders, was a strategic development in the war on terrorism and a clear evidence that we are able to achieve the final victory on terrorism.”
