The Syrian educational movie “Kingdom of Dreams” reviewed the story of children in an 11,000-year-old country that were subjected to a ten-year war and lived through all its repercussions, but they still dream of changing the reality of their country to the better.
The film, which is the first of its kind in Syria, was written and directed by Talal Lababidi. The two characters of “The Princess of Dreams and Nightmare”, represent the side of good and evil, based on the saying that “it is not enough to dream, but you have to work until the dream comes true.”
The film also discusses the attraction of children to the world of the Internet and social media and the need to use them to develop their abilities and talents and warns them of their negative content in a representative template that combines funny situations along with the lessons and wisdom.
Concerning the film, which was produced by the National Shams Group and launched its first show on “Al-Hamra”Theater on the occasion of Eid Al-Fitr, Minister of Education Dr. Darem Al-Tabbaa said in a statement to reporters: “ this work, which was launched under the sponsorship of the Ministry of Education, is a great experience because it is directed to our children who lack their own cinema and educational television programs.”, noting the efforts of the producing company as the concern for childhood is a national and societal responsibility to create real art that will be performed on theaters and cinemas.
Member of the Executive Office in Damascus Governorate, Faisal Sorour, believed that the film is of a patriotic nature and provided hope and optimism to the children of Syria who have been subjected to a crisis that affected them in various aspects, especially at the psychological level, calling for mobilizing efforts to revitalize the cultural movement in Syria.
In turn, the film’s author and director, Talal Lababidi, explained in a statement to SANA that the movie of “Kingdom of Dreams” targets children from 4 to 12 years old and it came in the “movie theater” template as the first experience of its kind in Syria, while there are many international experiences within this type, but they did not carry contents for children.He said that the adventure element in this film was the participation of child actors who added energy, positivity and renewal to it.
Ribal Al-Hadi, one of the film makers, pointed out that it is the beginning of works dedicated to children that will be produced by the National “ Shams” Group, which has been concerned with the national song for 17 years, based on the need to take care of children and produce purposeful works dedicated to them related to the national situation, indicating that the film will be presented in schools, cultural centers and cinemas in Syria throughout the year.
In turn, the Marketing Director of Shipso Company, the sponsor of the film, Ahmed Tasabhaji stressed the importance of holding awareness events and symposiums on children to enhance their moral side and provide opportunities to advance their condition.
According to the director Al-Muhannad Koulthum, who is always keen in his cinematic works on focusing on the Syrian child as a basic issue, believed that the artistic community in Syria needs new experiences that enrich the cultural scene directed to childhood, considering that the movie of “Kingdom of Dreams” is a unique experience that attracts the audience, especially children, to theater stages and cinema in light of the great spread of social media.
