Kilziya, Jum’a dominate NSC

DAMASCUS,(ST)-The National  Swimming Championships (men& women) have concluded at the Tishreen Olympic swimming pool in Damascus.

Approximately 120 swimmers representing Damascus,Damascus Countryside, Quneitra, Aleppo, Lattakia, Deirez-zour and Hasaka competed in the two-day event.

In the men’s contest, up-and –coming swimmer Ayman Kilziya from Aleppo won seven disciplines out of ten (50 m butterfly, 50 m breaststroke, 50 m backstroke, 100 m butterfly, 100 m breaststroke and 200 m medley relay.

William Muqassi from Aleppo came first in 100, 200 m  free style while Salah Zidan from Lattakia managed only to capture one gold medal in 50 m free style.

Bayan Jum’a, member of the national team, clinched seven gold medals in the following disciplines (50 m breaststroke, 50 m free style, 100 m breaststroke, 100 m backstroke, 100 m free style, 200 m free style and 200 m medley relay).

Rose Jalbout came first in 50 m butterfly. Alya Masouti won gold in 50 m backstroke and karol Saba from Damascus came first in 100 mm butterfly.

In the overall standings, Damascus team came first with as tally of 25 varied medals (10 gold, 9 silver, 6 bronze). Followed by Aleppo team who collected 19 varied medals (9 gold, 5 silver, 5 bronze). The third place went to Lattakia team who managed only to get only one gold medal, three silver medals and two bronzes.
