Kiev authorities have caused a humanitarian catastrophe in Ukrainian cities, says Moscow

Moscow, (ST) – The Russian Inter-Agency Coordination Headquarters for Humanitarian Response in Ukraine announced that the authorities in Kiev have caused a humanitarian catastrophe in many Ukrainian cities, especially major ones, due to their inability to ensure the functioning of humanitarian corridors.

“Due to the weakness and inability of the Ukrainian side to ensure the functioning of humanitarian corridors, the situation is deteriorating in a large number of settlements on almost the entire territory of Ukraine, especially in the major cities of Kiev, Chernigov, Sumy, Kharkov and Mariupol,” Sputnik quoted the headquarters as saying in a statement. 

 The statement said that,” the Russian Federation has ensured full security on the planned routes during previously announced humanitarian operations to evacuate civilians and foreign citizens.” It added that Russia received more than two million requests for evacuation from almost all populated areas by foreign embassies and Ukrainian citizens in the period from 5 to 5 March 7th only.

The statement also said that, the Russian Federation is ready to prepare for and implement a humanitarian operation and that the Armed Forces are ready to take humanitarian steps to evacuate the civilian population from the territory of Ukraine, as well as to create decent living conditions for all refugees in Russia.

The Coordination Headquarters explained that at the moment the evacuees of Ukraine citizens are placed in temporary accommodation centers in hotels, sanatoriums and boarding houses, are provided with hot meals, children are able to go to schools and kindergartens, while temporary employment for adults is urgently arranged.

The Russian Ministry of Defense announced yesterday a ceasefire and the provision of humanitarian corridors in several Ukrainian cities, starting today, so that civilians can exit through humanitarian corridors. Among them are (18744) children.
