Khoshroo calls world to stand against intimidation, bullyism

“Violent extremism is the most serious threat of our age,” said Iran’s Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the UN, GholamaliKhoshroo, on Wednesday in New York while addressing a forum of the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC), according to the Mehr News.

He categorized the extremists in two classes; the ones who do not have official power and conduct terrorist attacks with forming and controlling global networks and the other one, “those powerful governments which support extremist approaches and undertake unilateral, interventionist measures who suppose themselves right solely because they have the power for the assumption.”

He deemed the treatment of these governments to the other cultures, religions, peoples, and civilizations as discriminatory and humiliating. “These two categories, I mean the terrorists and powerful but irresponsible governments not only contribute nothing to the global peace but also activate the cycle of violence and destruction.”

The Iranian diplomat called the world to change the ‘faulty routine’ and urged that dialogue and reciprocal respect as the sole way of enhancing peace and stability and preventing war and violence be chosen, in addition to condemning extremism in all its forms.

“It is up to all of us to pick dialogue and communication as a method for co-existence while the international community, at the same time, should seriously and unanimously counter the use of threat, unilateral pose of force, terror and bullyism,” articulated the Iranian envoy.
