Deputy Head of the Military and Civil Administration of the Kherson region Kirill Strimosov revealed that this year a referendum will be held in the Kherson region on joining Russia.
“The top priority now is not the referendum, but the socio-economic re-development of the region,” Strimosov was quoted as saying by RIA Novosti news agency, adding, “We will do everything necessary so that the residents of the Kherson region do not face any difficulties to make their lives comfortable.”
Strimosov reported that the Kherson region has already begun to integrate with Russia and residents are actively applying for Russian passports.
On the other hand, Strimosov pointed out that the Kherson region is ready to resume freight railways with Crimea, which were cut off by the Kiev authorities eight years ago, noting that after the situation in the region has completely stabilized, passenger railways will also be operated.
