Khatibzadeh: President Al-Assad’s visit to Iran carries a message that Syria has entered a new stage
Spokesman of the Iranian Foreign Ministry Saeed Khatibzadeh has described President Bashar Al-Assad’s visit to Iran and his meetings with senior Iranian officials as very important.
During his weekly press conference on Monday, Khatibzadeh said that President Al-Assad’s visit has a very important message that Syria has now entered a new stage. He pointed out that his country has been one of the countries that helped Syria in its war on terrorism and it is seeking to enhance its relations with Syria in different fields.
In the same context, Director General of the Iranian “Negahh Naw” Agency Mehdi Azizi said in a statement to the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) that President Al-Assad’s visit to Tehran has special importance, given the distinguished strategic relations between Syria and Iran.
He pointed out that the two countries have waged a war on terrorism and achieved joint gains and now, they are facing massive pressure, siege and unfair sanctions, and therefore, coordination between the two sides on main files at the highest levels constitutes a message to all the parties that try to undermine these strategic relations.
Azizi affirmed that economic cooperation between Syria and Iran was among the very important topics on the agenda of the visit, provided the several fields of cooperation that serve the two sides as well as the neighboring countries.
