DAMASCUS, (ST) – The Syrian Foreign Ministry on Saturday sent messages to UN Chief, President of the Security Council, UN High Commissioner for Human Rights and head of the Human Rights Council about the massacre committed by the terrorist “Ansar al-Khalifa Brigade” gang in the town of Khan al-Assal ,20km west of Aleppo, in which tens of civilians and military personnel were martyred.
In its letters the Foreign Ministry said that hundreds of extremist terrorists, associated with al-Qaeda, invaded Khan al-Assal a few days ago to control the area and interrupt food and medication supplies to Aleppo . The terrorist groups’ members arranged a slaughter of civilians and military personnel in the town, mutilated the bodies of some martyrs and throw them in a big hole in the town’s outskirts and set fire in other martyrs bodies.
“What happened in Khan al-Assal proves the involvement of neighboring countries in this crime through providing military, logistic and financial support for the armed terrorist groups,” the ministry said.
It stressed the double standard policy adopted by some Security Council member countries regarding fighting terrorism through preventing the UNSC from condemning the crimes of the al-Qaeda-affiliated takfiri groups which have been responsible for the terrorist blasts which hit different areas in the country the latest of which took place on July 25 in Jaramana neighborhood in Damascus Countryside.
“The stances of these countries contradict the international unanimity on combating terrorism, encourage committing more crimes against the Syrians and hinder all international efforts to attain a political solution to the crisis based on national dialogue that respects the Syrians’ choices and contributes to halting violence and terminating the terrorism of the extremist and takfiri groups.
The Ministry concluded the letters by saying that Syria calls on the international community, particularly the Security Council and the Human Rights Council to adopt responsible procedures as regards fighting the terrorism Syria is facing because of the al-Qaeda linked takfiri groups. It also called for revealing facts connected to the horrible massacre in Khan al-Assal away from double standard policies.
