Khamenei: Kerman Terror Attack won’t Remain Unpunished

Supreme Leader of the Iranian Islamic Revolution Ali Khamenei strongly condemned the terrorist attack in the Southeastern Iranian city of Kerman, and stressed that the response to the deadly bombings will be harsh.

“The enemies of the Iranian nation once again created a disaster and martyred a large number of dear people in Kerman,” Khamenei said in a message on Wednesday, according to Fars News Agency.

“Cruel criminals should understand that the soldiers of Qassem Soleimani’s path do not tolerate their vileness and crime and they must know that they will be harshly dealt with from now on and a fair punishment awaits them,” he added.

He also said that “this heinous act will provoke a firm response, God willing”.

More than 100 people were martyred and over 210 injured in the Iranian city of Kerman after twin blasts near a cemetery where a ceremony was being held to mark the 4th martyrdom anniversary of anti-terror commander Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimani.

Iranian officials described the incident as a terrorist attack.

Ayatollah Khamenei also described the perpetrators of the twin bombings as the “rogue and murderous enemies of the Iranian people”.

He offered condolences to the bereaved families of those martyred in the tragic incident, and wished mercy on the martyrs and swift recovery for the injured.

For his part, the Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi urged authorities to identify and punish the perpetrators of the terrorist attack in Kerman.

“Undoubtedly, the perpetrators of this cowardly act will soon be identified and punished for their heinous act,” the President said in a message on Wednesday.
