Khaji , Lavrentiev review the latest developments of situation in Syria

Tehran ( ST):   Assistant Iranian Foreign Minister for Special Political Affairs Ali AsgharKhaji discussed  with Russian President’s Special Envoy to Syria Alexander Lavrentiev the latest developments of the situation in Syria.

Khaji affirmed the importance of cooperation between Iran and Russia, chiefly in finding out a solution to the crisis in Syria, referring to the role of the Astana process in this solution. He stressed the support of his country to the work of the Committee of Discussing the Constitution without external intervention which is a principled stance for Iran.

 

In turn, Lavrentiev criticized the obstacles placed by some countries for  the return of the displaced Syrians to their homeland which is considered a humanitarian issue.

He referred to the positive achievements of the Iranian -Russian cooperation within the framework of the Astana process about Syria, stressing the necessity of continuing this cooperation at all levels.
