Key statements by Foreign Minister Mr. Asaad Al-Sheibani during the Riyadh meetings regarding Syria

The legacy left by the previous regime, characterized by heavy burdens of administrative and financial corruption and outdated institutional structures, requires us to exert exceptional effort to completely rebuild them.

We will focus our priorities on creating a vision centered around the Syrian citizen, aimed at serving him, improving his living conditions, and providing him with the opportunity for creativity and the attainment of his civil rights.

The new Syrian administration is fully committed to advancing human rights and ensuring justice and equality for all Syrian citizens regardless of their political, religious, or ethnic affiliations.

Protecting human rights is a fundamental part of Syria’s vision for the future and we believe that state building is the only way to achieve lasting stability and prosperity.

Syria is fully committed to the principles of national sovereignty and mutual respect between nations, and that relations between peoples should be based on cooperation and joint construction

In the new Syrian administration, we consider that the broad participation of all segments of society in political and social life represents a constitutional right for every Syrian. We call upon everyone to actively participate in building the future of Syria

Involving all segments of Syrian society is at the core of our commitment to national reconciliation and transitional justice, in order to create a new Syria based on the values of equality, partnership, and mutual respect.

We affirm our full commitment to implementing transitional justice and continuing accountability for those involved in cases of mass killings, systematic torture, and the use of chemical weapons against our people, and we will work to bring them to justice and ensure their accountability.
