Moscow, (ST) – Russian Ambassador in Damascus Alexander Kenshak stressed that trade relations between Russia and Syria are still continuing in spite of the existence of objective difficulties related primarily to the status quo in the country.
In an interview with Tass Russian News Agency published on Monday by the Russia Today Site, Mr. Kenshak pointed out that the Russian energy company “Stroy Trans Gas” did not diminish its activity in Syria during the most difficult times but on the contrary it expanded its orders portfolio as looking forward to the post-crisis period and is considering its options in new large-scale projects, such as building a large pumping station at the Tigris River.
He pointed out that the preparatory phase for large projects requires years of work and at this time the situation could be stabilized in the country and the companies that will use this time would have a better situation in the Syrian market.
“The political role of Russia in the settlement of the crisis in Syria would have a positive impact on Russian companies,” Mr. Kenshak pointed out.
