NEW DELHI, (ST) – Karam Fatima, the promising Syrian player, has managed to top his group in the world championship and consequently secured a berth in the second round.

En route to the second round, Fatima beat three opponents: beat Egyptian Wael Talaat 4-1; an Indian player 4-1 and defeated a player from Sweden 4-1.

 

Omar Quja, Fatima’s teammate, beat a player from Australia 4-2  and lost to player from Holland.
