Kanaani: Washington is not qualified to make judgments on human rights

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanaani confirmed that the United States, which is known for violating human rights both at home and abroad, is not qualified to talk about human rights in other countries.

Commenting on the annual report issued by the US State Department on human rights in Iran, Kanaani said: “This report, which is not based on any foundation and lacks credibility, adopts political goals and proceeds from the approach based on the continuous US interference in the affairs of independent countries. We do not expect the American hegemonic regime to show the facts and the existing reality in Iran.”

Kanani touched on the widespread violations of human rights committed by the US administration inside and outside America, which makes it ineligible to issue judgments or evaluate the lofty principles of human rights in international relations.

Kanani added: “Hypocritical America makes allegations about defending the right of the Iranian people and human rights while it imposes an unjust, illegal and unilateral ban on those people, and violates their rights in a flagrant and systematic manner.”
