Syrian national swimming team player Ayman Kelzieh set a new Syrian record in the 50-meter butterfly race of 25.40 seconds at the World Swimming and Aquatic Championships currently being held in the Hungarian capital Budapest.
With this number, Kelsey achieved second place in the 50-meter butterfly finals, bearing in mind that the old Syrian record was also registered in his name, which was 25.26 seconds.
In the 200-meter freestyle race, Omar Abbas scored 1.52.78 minutes, and he needed a few seconds to break the Syrian record recorded in his name, which is 1.51.88.
In a statement to SANA, the head of the Swimming Federation, Hammam Maalla, stressed the importance of Syria’s participation in this global event and raising its name high, wishing the Syrian players to break new records.
