Justice Minister to Turkish lawyers: Current stage requires concerted efforts to numerate the former regime’s crimes

DAMASCUS- Minister of Justice Judge Shadi Al-Waisi yesterday met with a Turkish delegation of international lawyers specialized in the field of human rights, headed by lawyer Golden Sonmez and lawyer Jihad Gokdemir.
During the meeting, issues related to war crimes and humanitarian issues that occurred in Syria were discussed. Ways to enhance cooperation and coordination with the ministry to reach the largest number of affected people were also discussed.
The Minister stressed that the current stage requires concerted efforts to link and network with private and public international centers interested in numerating the regime’s crimes and to collect evidence and presenting it to the international community.
For her part, lawyer Golden Sonmez said in a statement to SANA that the visit comes after the liberation of Syria and the overthrow of the former regime with the aim of following up on the file of the victims and the crimes committed during the years of war.
She added that the Minister of Justice was briefed on what the international lawyers have achieved since 2017 and on receiving the files of 1183 affected people from various categories and their submission in 2019 to the International Criminal Court in the Hague.
