Junior Chamber International in Lattakia  holds its closing conference of “Watan” campaign targeting  earthquake-affected people  

After more than five months of training, work and effort, the Junior  Chamber International JCI-Lattakia  in cooperation with Lattakia Governorate, launched its closing conference of “Watan” campaign which included  three projects : Nafas, Watad, Taad . 

The campaign  contributed to strengthening the local economy, by supporting  directly and indirectly  earthquake-affected people  and providing  job opportunities.  

In his statement to the  Syriatimes e-newspaper , president of JCI Lattakia   Junior Makhoul said that “ Watan”  campaign aimed  to support those affected by the earthquake in  different fields in cooperation  with partners from economic and social activities in our local community, who provided us with their administrative and financial expertise.”  

He pointed out  that the campaign falls within the objectives of the annual plan of  JCI – Lattakia, which was developed at the beginning of this year, within the scope of community projects, and the  world  RISE campaign launched by JCI  and  applied in times of crisis.

For his part, Humam Yassin, manager of  “Watan” campaign  stressed the three projects of the campaign focused on providing  financial  and psychological support for earthquake-affected people  in addition to providing them with the opportunity of vocational education and experiences to facilitate their entry into   labor mark  to become active people in society. 

“TAAD” project manager, Lana Attia said in her statement “ It is a qualitative project implemented for the first time in Lattakia Governorate and falls under the business and entrepreneurship sector, to  provide services at  several levels including electronic marketing, banking facilities, project promotion, and facilitating bank loans .” 

For her part, Ruba Mihoub, manager of  “Watad” project, indicated that the project falls within the community sector, and aims to motivate the labor force and achieve sustainable development goals in ensuring a decent and healthy life for individuals, by enhancing their involvement in practical courses. such as barbering, sewing, accounting, and mobile maintenance in Lattakia and Jableh.”

Regarding  “Nafas” project  Wa’ad Al-Abdullah, indicated that the project aimed to support psychological health  which is one of the goals of the RISE campaign. 

She added, “The most important characteristic of the project is that it brought  together all segments of society including  volunteers from local community associations with very important and specialized training, in order to eventually prepare a psychologically healthy person who is able to provide psychological support to his surroundings, in a way that ensures a sustainable impact within society and our organization.”
