Joy Choir conveys message to face challenges in Syria with joy and hope

The musical evening, which was performed by the Choir of Joy at the conclusion of the 11th Delbeh Festival for Culture and Arts, the “Echo of Berries and Silk”, constituted an invitation to confront the challenges that Syria is facing with hope and joy.

The evening, hosted by Mashta El-Helou Square at the end of the festival, was titled “A Silk Thread” so that this thread would be the cultural and social link between the children of Damascus and the children of Mashta El-Helou.

The evening program, which was led by maestro Claudia Touma and musician Maram Al-Harash, was rich in songs related to the living Syrian memory. The participating children performed 15 various songs.

The Damascene Rose which is part of the Syrian intangible cultural heritage was present in the evening through a lyrical piece that depicted the beauty of the Damascene Rose and the durability of the Syrian silk thread.

In a statement to SANA, Maestro Touma said: “Despite the war and harsh natural disasters that Syria is facing, its people did not stop spreading the message of hope and joy and challenging the pain with the voices of the children of the Joy Choir.”

She noted that the evening was an opportunity for the children of the choir to get to know the children of Mashta Al-Helou and it gave them the chance to know about other children and their culture, pointing out that Mashta Al-Helou has a rich cultural history.

In turn, Maram Al-Harsh said that the interaction between the children of the choir aims to increase experiences and strengthen social communication so that the Syrian silk thread is the cultural link between our local communities.

At the end of the festival, which was held by the Ministry of Culture in cooperation with the Charitable Cultural Forum Foundation in Mashta El-Helou, the participating artists were honored.
