Journalists’ Union calls for releasing the Syrian journalist, Muhammad al-Saghir, who was kidnapped by the “SDF” militia
Hasakeh (ST): A delegation from the Union of Journalists, during a visit to the family of Syrian journalist Mohammed Al-Saghir, correspondent of the Syrian Arab News Agency, who was kidnapped by the US-backed “SDF” militia, called on all international and human rights organizations to intervene and put pressure on that separatist militia to release him.
During the meeting in Al-Hasakeh governorate, the delegation also held the SDF militia fully responsible for this crime and for the safety of the young journalist, stressing that his kidnapping crime is a flagrant violation of human rights. The delegation voiced full support for the journalist’s family.
Secretary of the Union of Journalists Younes Khalaf indicated that “this meeting with the family of our colleague Mohammed Al-Saghir comes within the framework of the Union of Journalists’ interest and follow-up on his case, pointing out that the Union and through the Freedoms Committee follows up on an almost daily basis the issue of his kidnapping, as many letters were sent to the International Federation Reporters to release him as soon as possible.
In turn, the governor of Hasakeh, Dr. Louay Sayuh, affirmed that efforts will continue to be exerted as to release the young journalist, expressing the governorate’s readiness to provide everything necessary to support his family according to the available capabilities.
Bashar Al-Saghir, the eldest son of colleague Muhammad Al-Saghir, thanked all the parties working to follow up on their situation in these circumstances, calling for intensified efforts to release his father, who is suffering from difficult conditions, and a deterioration in his health condition, which worsens on a daily basis.
