Jordanian-Syrian Economic Forum discusses trade exchange and logistics of transportation between the two countries
Under the title “Trade exchange and Logistics of Transportation between Syria and Jordan”, the activities of the Jordanian -Syrian Economic Forum were launched today at the Dama Rose Hotel in Damascus.
The Forum was accompanied by an exhibition to introduce the activities of the Jordanian shipping and transport companies, the Aqaba Chamber of Commerce, the Irbid Industry Chamber and the Investment Directorate in Aqaba Port.
Participants in the forum Who represent the chambers of industry, trade and economic facilities, discussed ways to overcome difficulties and obstacles facing the trade and export process of Syrian and Jordanian products.
Participants discussed the upgrading of bilateral economic relations to a better level, activating the work of joint committees, supporting local industries for both sides, providing each of them with a list of goods allowed to be imported and exported, as well as forming the Syrian -Jordanian Business Council.
The Director of the Support and Development of Local Production and Expressive Promotion Authority, represented by the Minister of Economy and Foreign Trade Thaer Fayyad, stressed the importance of the forum in terms of overcoming the obstacles and difficulties facing foreign trade between Syria and any Arab country, especially since Jordan is a country of traffic and crossing.
In turn, the head of the Aqaba Chamber of Commerce, Nael Al -Kabariti, explained that the Syrian -Jordanian relations are constantly improving.
He pointed out that the forum aims to search for the problems facing the Syrian and Jordanian exporter or importer to present them to decision -makers and find solutions to them.
For his part, the Vice President of the Syrian Chambers of Commerce and the head of the Aleppo Chamber of Commerce, Amer Hamwi, stressed the importance of reactivating strategic and economic cooperation with Jordan.
The Vice -President of the Aqaba Economic Zone Authority, representative of the Jordanian government in the forum, Eng. Hamza Essam Al -Hajj Hassan, explained that the forum’s goal is to discuss overcoming obstacles and difficulties in front of trade between Syria and Jordan, to increase trade exchange and inter -trade, and provide support to Syrian investors, industrialists and merchants to expand their business.
In turn, the Director General of the Al -Jarrah Foundation for organizing international exhibitions and conferences, Abdullah Al -Dalati, pointed out that the exhibition accompanying the forum aims to shed light on shipping and transportation of goods.
For his part, the captain of the owners of clearance and transportation companies in Jordan, Dhaif Allah Abu Aqoula, indicated that the forum is an opportunity to meet between the concerned authorities in both countries, and to present the problems of shipping, transportation and proposed solutions to them.
