Jordanian Parliament Speaker Welcomes Reopening of Nassib-Jaber Border Crossing, Says Syria Is Genuine Arab Depth

AMMAN, (ST)- Jordanian Parliament Speaker Atef al-Tarawneh has stressed that the parliament welcomed reopening of  Nasib-Jaber border crossing between Syria and Jordan for persons and vehicles.

“We welcome in the House of Representatives the agreement we reached with the Syrian brothers, an agreement that paves the way for more solid and deep relations with the brothers,” al-Tarwneh said.

In a statement reported by the Jordanian News Agency “Petra”, al-Tarawneh said ” opening the crossing would reactivate economic movement between the two countries and would open prospects for promising trade activities with several countries. He affirmed that facilitating transportation and trade between the two countries will reflect positively on them and will serve the interests of the Syrian and Jordanian peoples.

 Al-Tarawneh noted the historical brotherly ties between the peoples of the two countries, saying “Jordan has always regarded Syria as a “genuine Arab depth”.

He stressed the need to reach a political solution to the crisis in Syria; a solution that preserves Syria’s security, stability and territorial integrity.
