Jordanian Foreign Minister Stresses the Need to Support the Syrian Government

Jordanian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi stressed the need to support the Syrian government in its reconstruction efforts.

Jordanian News Agency Petra, reported that Safadi said during his meeting yesterday with a delegation from the French Senate, which included Vice-President of the Senate Loïc Agve, Chairman of the Middle East Liaison Committee Etienne Blanc, and Chairman of the Jordanian-French Friendship Committee Cyril Belivat: “The Syrian government must be supported in its reconstruction efforts and improving the situation in the country.”

He stressed the importance of lifting sanctions on Syria to help its people recover and overcome the difficult circumstances they have experienced.

Safadi pointed to the importance of supporting efforts to reach a permanent ceasefire and deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza Strip, which is facing a humanitarian catastrophe as a result of the ongoing Israeli aggression and Israel’s prevention of aid entry.

He also stressed the need to support Lebanon’s security, sovereignty and stability, and to consolidate the ceasefire.
