Jordanian Family Members Stage Sit-in in Damascus to Protest Their Government’s Support for Terrorism in Syria
DAMASCUS, (ST)-Members of a Jordanian family, resident in Syria, today morning staged a sit-in in front of their country’s embassy in Damascus to protest terrorism supporting in Syria and Jordan.
The family members carried pictures of Jordanian pilot Mu’az al-Kasasbeh, who was burned alive by ISIS terrorist organization, in addition to banners with phrases saying “Stop Supporting Terrorism in Syria” and calling on the Jordanian parliament members to hold terrorism supporters in the Jordanian government accountable.
Other banners asked “for how long the Jordanian people have to pay for coalitions with the United States and Saudi Arabia”.
In a statement to SANA, Ahmad Jibreel Fares Jibreel, a family member, said the sit-in aims to mourn the Jordanian army personnel, who were killed recently in a terrorist attack, because of the Jordanian government support for terrorism. It also aims “to voice solidarity with the Syrian and Jordanian armies and to condemn backing terrorism in Syria,” he added.
Jibreel urged the Jordanian parliament to question the government, lift the immunity of some ministers and hold them accountable for supporting terrorism, stressing that terrorism and alliance with evil forces in the U.S. and Saudi Arabia have badly affected security and the life of citizens in Jordan.
