Jordan, Russia assert the need to reach political solution for the crisis in Syria

Jordan’s Foreign Minister Ayman al-Safadi and Russian Special Presidential Envoy on Syria Alexander Lavrentiev have asserted the need to reach political solution for the crisis in Syria.

The Jordanian minister made it clear that the political solution must preserve the territorial integrity of Syria and the unity of its people.

“The political solution must lead to the expulsion of all foreign forces from Syria and the elimination of terrorism as well as the return of Syrian refugees to their homeland,” al-Safadi added.

According to the Jordanian News Agency (Petra), Safadi and the Russian delegation discussed developments in southern Syria, and explained the importance of cooperation with Russia to face the security and economic challenges there.

He warned against attempts by terrorist gangs to regroup and rebuild their capabilities in southern Syria.

Lavrentiev arrived in Jordan heading a high-ranking delegation composed of officials representing Foreign and Defense Ministries.
