Amman (ST): An earthquake measuring magnitude 3.5 on the Richter scale shook Madaba Governorate, south of the capital, Amman, today.
The Jordanian Ammon Agency quoted the director of the Jordanian Seismological Observatory, Engineer Ghassan Sweidan, as saying: The tremor occurred at a depth of 7 km from sea level and is considered to be of a weak level, while no information or reports were received about material or human damage as a result of the tremor.
At the beginning of this month, the Jordanian Seismological Observatory recorded 3 tremors measuring magnitude 3.2, 2.1 and 1.9 on the Richter scale in the Dead Sea region.
