AMMAN, (ST)- Jordanian Foreign Ministry announced on Tuesday that Jordan has decided to appoint a new charge d’Affairs at its embassy in Damascus.
The Jordanian news agency, Petra, quoted the ministry’s spokesman Sufian Salman al-Qudat as saying that “the decision goes in harmony with the Jordanian stance since the eruption of the crisis in Syria in 2011 which calls for keeping the Jordanian embassy in Damascus opened.”
The spokesman added that “Jordan, since the beginning of the crisis in Syria, has called for a political solution to the crisis, a solution that is acceptable by all the Syrians and that preserves Syria’s unity, restores security and stability in the country and creates suitable circumstances for voluntary return of displaced Syrians.”
